    # Thailand Work Permit Requirements: 2026 e-WorkPermit Guide

Thailand's Department of Employment now operates **e-WorkPermit** as the principal electronic system for foreign work-authorisation applications and related notifications. DOE announced that the system began service on **13 October 2025**. Transitional arrangements applied to some applications already filed in the previous systems, but new cases should be classified against the current e-WorkPermit route.

    ## Start with the legal route
Do not treat every foreign employee as the same application. The correct form and document set depend on the legal basis, immigration status, employer type, occupation and whether the request is a new permit, renewal or change of work details.

    ## Typical document groups
Depending on the route, DOE materials can require:
    - Passport / identity evidence
    - Employment certification or contract
    - Employer/company registration documents
    - Business licences where the activity is regulated
    - Education/professional licence evidence where relevant
    - Social-security, tax or other employer evidence for particular routes

The exact checklist must come from the e-WorkPermit route used for that applicant.

    ## No universal 7–30 day promise
Processing time should not be advertised as a fixed number for every province or application. DOE's support system shows that applications can be delayed by document, system, legal-review or officer-review issues. Track the live application status and contact the responsible provincial/employment office when necessary.
